Zhejiang. Porsche entries are set to take to the track for the final time as the Blancpain GT Series Asia finishes out a season rife with tough competition and moments of Porsche glory as it hosts Round 11 and 12 at Zhejiang International Circuit from October 14-15.
Zhejiang. It’s been a raucous season of rugged competition for Porsche in the China GT, building up to a finale showdown for JRM’s Li Chao and Chris van der Drift (No.911) as the pair set their sights on the China GT 2017 Championship title fighting from second place in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 991) during Porsche’s official debut at Zhejiang International Circuit.
Porsche China Junior Zhang Dasheng began his driving career in 1999 in the world of karting and swiftly moved to formula racing in 2006. By 2010 the ambitious young driver was racing in Touring cars and in 2012 joined the Carrera Cup Asia for his debut season with the region’s leading one-make series where he has raced nearly every year since.
The Porsche young driver concept was first unveiled in 1997 and has since become a successful international model for the brand around the world – producing the likes of Earl Bamber (NZL), Timo Bernhard (GER), Patrick Long (USA), Michael Christensen (DEN) and Sven Müller (GER) who are all former Porsche Juniors that have gone on to be Porsche works drivers today.
Chengdu. Porsche’s top entries faced two fickle rounds of motorsport after a successful qualifying session at the compact Chengdu International Circuit preceded a clash in Round 9 on Wednesday that left two entries unable to finish the race before a passion-filled Porsche win in Round 10 on Thursday.
Chengdu. Porsche drivers will look to fortify their championship lead in the China GT as FAW T2M’s Bao Jinlong and Martin Ragginger (No.99) top the GT3 competition by a single point going into Round 9 and 10 at Chengdu International Circuit from October 3-4.
Sepang. The climactic late-season action continues for the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia after Team Porsche Holding’s Martin Ragginger commandeered the championship lead in a slick-track Round 11 showdown at Sepang international Circuit.
Flashing through the circuits this year in his iconic grey and green Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is no. 23 challenger Paul Tresidder – one of the season’s gentleman drivers that underscores the meaning behind “pro” in Pro-Am. Tresidder has raced with the Carrera Cup Asia in six seasons since 2008, breaking into the top 10 in his class during nearly every season appearance and taking home third-in-class during his series debut. “For me this season has been fantastic,” he said. “In terms of the drivers and the friendliness, this season has really come together so well.”
Sepang. A historic race is set for Porsche Carrera Cup Asia as it prepares to celebrate the end of an era, hosting its penultimate race weekend alongside F1 for the final time at Sepang International Circuit from September 29th – October 1st.
